Aja Tahari Marsh's food is inventive and vibrant, yet always approachable. With flavors ranging from the utterly familiar to the exotic, Aja works closely with each client to customize menus that suit their unique tastes. She has specific passions in cooking local and seasonal foods, cooking for those with specialized or restrictive diets, and food education.
Aja studied natural foods cooking at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts in New York City, and while most of her work since has been as a personal chef and caterer for a wide-range of clientele, she has also worked as a line cook under Chef Amanda Cohen at Heirloom and for various catering companies such as Fancy Girl Table and Creative Edge Parties. In 2009, she founded the pop-up venture Sandwich Friend at the Greenpoint Food Market and various other venues in Brooklyn.
Born and raised in Texas, Aja completed her undergraduate studies in Visual Arts at the University of Florida, getting her start as a cook at a local catering company before moving to the northeast. Beyond her work in natural foods and things kitchen-related, she is the founder of a community running club, is the co-producer of an event-based networking group in Brooklyn, and is active in various local food and agriculture organizations.
Aja's recipes have been featured on Oriel Wines, Girlie Girl Army, and Bravo! Wellness and was interviewed by the Austinist.
