Summer is in full swing, and the farmers' markets are teeming with bright colored summer squashes, herbs, leafy greens, tomatoes, berries, and cucumbers. I'm getting equipment together to begin my first-ever round of canning and preserving! Right now, I am super excited about big bowls of salad, wild Alaskan salmon, and locally grown cherries. I'm spending the summer primarily in New York City, taking in all of the heat and humidity it has to offer.
